Landesman Resigning as Executive Director of Workforce Professional Training Institute

Amy Landesman will be resigning as Executive Director of Workforce Professionals Training Institute (WPTI) effective April 13, 2012.  Sharon Sewell, Director of Program Operations, has been approved by WPTI’s Board of Directors to serve as Interim Executive Director.

“For seven years, Amy Landesman has more than ably served WPTI and the workforce development community in New York City,” said Russ Pomeranz, Chairman of WPTI’s Board of Directors and President and CEO of the Claverack Advisory Group. Pomeranz further attested, “Although we will miss her terribly, her vision and legacy of staff development and capacity building for the workforce development field will remain. We have an incredible team of dedicated staff and a motivated Board of Directors fully capable of accomplishing our mission while we identify the next Executive Director.”

Landesman, who is relocating to Maryland, has been with WPTI since 2005 as the Director of Training, Deputy Executive Director and, for the past two years, Executive Director. During her tenure, WPTI has witnessed significant growth in its programs, staff and funding sources, increasing its budget more than four times over. WPTI has expanded its services from classroom training to also include consulting and several on-going public sector contracts. More recently, WPTI has embarked on a strategic planning process, which will shape the short and long term as well as inform the Executive Search process.

“I feel very fortunate to have been part of WPTI’s formative years as well as its transition to a new generation dedicated to the skill development and capacity building of the many wonderful organizations providing services to the unemployed and under-employed job seekers here in New York City,” said Landesman.  “I am proud of WPTI’s staff, our trainings and customized consultation projects, our partnerships, and the on-going support from the funding community and our Board. While I am excited for my new opportunity, I am going to miss being so intimately involved with all of this.

Sharon Sewell has been named Interim Executive Director and will assume these responsibilities as the Board conducts an executive search.  “The Board and the staff feel very lucky that we have someone such as Sharon to step in this role and assist during the transition,” said Pomeranz. “The Board is confident with Sharon’s leadership, WPTI’s services will continue to be delivered with the highest quality and attention paid to the staff of the workforce development field.”
